greennest is a 10,000 m2 visitor experience
combined with a hotel and additional facilities.
The experience shows Dutch floriculture in its
natural habitat in an interactive way. The
design of the experience and the building
are a metaphor for nature with a 60-metre
high stacked greenhouse in which the upper
floors have higher ceilings and more openings
and voids to simulate the experience of aforest;
darker at the ground layers, and light and
airier at the top. The hotel rooms are located in
the middle of the experience allowing hotel
guests to experience the green at night. An
informal restaurant on the ground floor and
an upscale restaurant on the roof garden
use products partly grown in their own gardens.
