Dallas Urby marks a new chapter in the evolution of urban living in the United States. Located in the city’s Design District, the project introduces 750 apartments across two residential towers, connected by a lush communal garden. More than a residential development, it is conceived as a living environment shaped around connection, flexibility, and everyday experience.
Set within a former warehouse district turned cultural hub, Dallas Urby responds directly to its surroundings. The architecture balances scale and openness, integrating two high-rise towers with a low-rise base that activates the street through cafés, retail, and shared entrances. The result is a project that feels embedded in the dynamic environment.
The towers are composed as a stack of shifting volumes, creating a façade that feels both sculptural and approachable. Deep-set windows, balconies, and tonal contrasts give rhythm and depth, while the ground level breaks down into smaller, tactile elements that maintain a human scale. This sense of human scale extends beyond the plinth into the architecture of the towers themselves. Through subtle variations in the façade, individual units become legible from street level, allowing residents to recognize and point out their own homes.

At the heart of Dallas Urby lies a sequence of communal spaces that encourage interaction. From the warm, material-rich lobby to the intimate library and fully equipped gym, each space is designed with both function and atmosphere in mind.
These interiors extend naturally into the garden, where pathways, seating areas, and a central pool create a quiet retreat within the city.

Tucked between the two towers and hidden from the street, the garden at Dallas Urby offers residents a serene escape from city life. A covered walkway flanks the garden, functioning as a connection between the two towers while providing a shaded path. Along this walkway, a striking large floral mural by Emeline Alé Chaoul enhances the lush, green atmosphere. The garden, designed by Bas Smets, features an organic-shaped layout with intimate seating islands nestled among trees and shrubs, creating a sense of privacy and tranquility. Residents can relax on sunbeds, roast marshmallows at the fire pit, or cook a meal at the BBQ stations. At the heart of it all, the iconic pool acts as a visual explosion, drawing the eye and energizing the space. Inspired by the naturally formed Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park, the pool feels like a natural centerpiece of the garden, even during the off-season.

Inside, the apartments are designed to maximize spatial quality within a compact footprint. Thoughtful layouts, built-in storage, and generous daylight create homes that feel larger than they are. Subtle upgrades, from natural materials to refined finishes, adapt the concept to its local context.

The Café, Salon, and Parlor, are directly connected to the main entrance, thoughtfully designed by Shawn Hausmann, blending style and social connection. The café greets residents with the inviting aroma of coffee and the vibrant energy of a lively space as they come and go, offering residents the opportunity to grab a coffee and engage with neighbors.
In addition to its interior entrance, the café also features a dedicated street entrance. A welcoming sidewalk terrace is designed to create an inviting connection to the neighborhood, while a shaded, street-facing patio offers a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Dallas climate.
The Parlor, hidden behind a lobby door in the west tower, is a cozy event space with a fireplace, soft seating, and a seamless connection to an outdoor patio.
