Concrete partners with Moos, an innovative housing concept aiming to create high-quality homes for everybody. Moos Appelweg was the second Moos social housing project to be completed after Moos Euterpe in Maasland end 2023.

Moos' mission is to solve the Dutch housing crisis in a social and sustainable way by creating and building high-quality homes for everyone. Our ambitions for a greener future are central, whether we are building for families, couples or individuals. The prefabricated homes by Moos are circular and modular and, if necessary, fully demountable and reusable. Which makes the homes suitable for temporary housing projects, without compromising the quality of permanent habitation. Concrete has been a partner in Moos since its inception in 2020, contributing to the development of the architecture, concept and branding.

Moos Appelweg houses 63 apartments, including studios and one-bedroom units, designed for 1- to 2-person household: young people, status holders, and regular applicants. Located along a serene canal in Amsterdam-Noord, the project features a sleek, linear design that stretches along the waterfront, offering all apartments picturesque garden views of the water on one side and a sunlit communal veranda on the other.

The architecture is dynamic yet contextual, with a stepped profile that transitions seamlessly from two stories on the west side to a taller elevation on the east. The sightline from Perenpad and the surrounding neighbourhood divides the design into two parts. At this intersection the main entrances for residents form the heart of the project. Here, the Moos square unfolds - a sloping area that connects residents to each other and the water’s edge, a lively place, fostering interaction and relaxation. The outdoor space is connected to and activated by the communal residents space, positioned at a strategic position at the ground floor.
